Music Marathon - Start Event

Events in June 2008: Fete de la Musique au Japon 2008 -Tokyo- in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Japan-France exchanges
Schedule: Saturday, June 14 - Saturday, June, 28 2008 *The Start Event ended.
This is a Japanese version of Fete de la Musique, an international exchange event held concurrently in over 400 cities in 130 countries worldwide. This concert will mark the start of the Music Marathon.

Theme:Collaboration of Japanese tradition and classical music: Japanese traditional music, Gagaku (Japanese court music), opera and chorus

Ikegami Roushi Chorus, Buddhist monks from the Ikegami Honmonji Temple, ESCOLTA, Sound ambition chorus (38 people).

This is an annual concert held in the Ikegami Honmonji Temple main shrine and vicinity. Performances include shomyo, Japanese Buddhist chant, traditional performing arts by the Ikegami Gagaku-kai, Japanese traditional music including shamisen performance, local children’s chorus, and concerts by an opera singer and French singers. Internet collaboration with live musicians in France is also scheduled.
